Wallace Avery (Colin Firth) is tired of his existence. Divorced, disconnected from his young son, dissatisfied with his love life, depressed and in the doldrums of middle age, he decides to make a radical change by walking away from his old life. He buys a new identity and hits the road as Arthur Newman to begin life anew, bound for Terre Haute, Indiana, where he dreams of reinventing himself as a golf pro at a tiny country club. But his road trip is derailed by the entrance of Michaela "Mike" Fitzgerald (Emily Blunt), whom Arthur discovers passed out poolside at a seedy roadside motel. Mike sees through Arthur's identity scam, and soon enough Arthur sees through hers - she's a kleptomaniac fleeing from domestic turmoil of her own. Soon romance blossoms on the road to Indiana as the unexpected couple infiltrates the lives of random strangers as a way of better grasping the essence of their own waylaid lives. Painful secrets unfold; new lives take shape. But is it possible to truly start all over again? A cross-country odyssey of self-discovery and renewal, ARTHUR NEWMAN is a gently comic screen romance about two unlikely souls who fall in love and find a way to accept responsibility for who they really are. Review For Arthur Newman
An offbeat, sometimes self-congratulatory road movie romance.Richard Roeper-Richard Roeper.com
They embark on one of those maundering, life-lessony odysseys that filmmakers love but audiences rarely do.
Peter Rainer-Christian Science Monitor
One of those many indies that exist to give actors a chance to go slumming.
Kyle Smith-New York Post
Well-acted but ultimately unmemorable ...
Jen Chaney-Washington Post
The film equivalent of a dysfunctional computer sloppily assembled from discarded parts of other machines.
Stephen Holden-New York Times
The promise it begins with doesn't pay off. And while "Arthur Newman" is not a complete disaster, it does leave you wishing the romance and the ride had been a whole lot smoother.
Betsy Sharkey-Los Angeles Times
Arthur Newman is overwhelmed with arty ambitions and a heavy-handed acting style. Ultimately, all the weight prevents the film from taking off and soaring.
Louis Black-Austin Chronicle
Obviously the theme of "Arthur Newman" is the American dream of starting over, but Johnston's screenplay hits it so obviously that it loses its resonance.
Rob Thomas-Capital Times (Madison, WI)
A strange film about dysfunctional people directed with good pace by Dante Ariola in his feature film debut highlighted by fine performances by Colin Firth and Emily Blunt.
Tony Medley-Tolucan Times
Academy-award winner Colin Firth seems to be doing someone a favor by agreeing to play Walter Avery/Arthur Newman.
Robin Clifford-Reeling Reviews
Ariola can't keep the proceedings moving forward, wallowing in the blue mood for far too long. It makes a decent movie with something to share about the exhaustion of defense mechanisms into a slog that leaves its actors high and dry.
Brian Orndorf-Blu-ray.com
Firth and Blunt give life (and flawless American accents) to this restrained, and occasionally bland, road trip flick.
Christian Toto-Big Hollywood
Firth's performance alone would have been enough to hail this film by director Dante Ariola. Toss in an equally powerful performance by Blunt, and the film turns to a masterwork of acting.
Rick Bentley-Fresno Bee
Often-somber drama has language, sex, drinking.
S. Jhoanna Robledo-Common Sense Media
This is a decidedly minor effort, directed by Dante Ariola with a bland, generic eye, missing the pathos of interesting drama and the charm of quality romantic cinema.
Robert Levin-amNewYork
A slow, lethargic journey to nowhere, full of pseudo-profound dialogue and generic indie-drama plotting.
Josh Bell-Las Vegas Weekly
If anything, Arthur Newman is a reminder that some lonely people are lonely for a good reason.
Mark Dujsik-Mark Reviews Movies
Without a satisfying finale, Arthur Newman might come across as just an acting exercise. If so, it's still an impressive one.

ANDRE GREGORY: BEFORE AND AFTER DINNER is a wonderful exploration of the life and work of groundbreaking director, actor and artist Andre Gregory. A witty and often hilariously funny raconteur, Gregory looks back on a career that spanned decades, shattered boundaries and established him as a cultural icon. He recalls the making of MY DINNER WITH ANDRE, the Louis Malle-directed classic in which he starred and co-wrote, reflects on his pivotal role in American theatre, dishes on his brief sojourn in Hollywood, and talks about the discovery that led him to question his own identity and life's work. Bringing us back and forth in time, Gregory looks not only at his life, but at the nature of art, love and the creative process. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Cindy Kleine (who is also his wife), ANDRE GREGORY: BEFORE AND AFTER DINNER is a brilliant portrait of a modern renaissance man. (c) Cinema Guild

"Molly's Theory of Relativity" is a sexy, funny, surreal, and devastating portrait of a beautiful twenty-eight-year-old astronomer who, having unexpectedly lost her job, is poised to make perhaps the first reckless decision of her life. Her story unfolds during an eighteen hour period, on Halloween. Providing counsel on the fateful day are her husband, her father-in-law, three deceased relatives, a precocious nine-year-old trick-or-treater, her grandfather from Minot, North Dakota, and a six year old neighbor, who may or may not be imaginary. "Molly's Theory of Relativity" is about the economy, and how we value what we do for a living, to ourselves and to 6 others. It's observes the unbreakable bonds of family, and posits the notion that death is merely a relative thing.(c) Adopt films
